OpenStudy (sboodhoo):

The compound CO is an example of a(n) salt element ionic compound covalent compound

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

technically speaking it is the monoxide of carbon, so it is not an element, since it contains two different atoms, furthermore it is not a salt, since it doesn't contain a metal (a salt is a chemical compound which contains a metal, for example \(\text{NaCl}\) is a salt, and \(\text{Na}\) is a metal). Such oxide is not an ionic compound, since the difference of electronegativity, between carbon and oxygen is not suffice, in order to get an ionic compound.
