need help with this series problem

OpenStudy (el_arrow):

\[\sum_{k=1}^{\infty} \frac{ 3^{k} }{ k! k }\]

OpenStudy (el_arrow):

and use the limit comparison test please

OpenStudy (el_arrow):

@zepdrix @freckles

OpenStudy (el_arrow):

i got this one wrong on a test :(

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

are you testing convergence ?

OpenStudy (el_arrow):

not sure

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

whats the exact question ?

OpenStudy (el_arrow):

use the limit comparison test to establish convergence or divergence series

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Ohk... you may use below geometric series for comparison : \[\sum\limits_{k=1}^{\infty} \dfrac{3^k}{4^k}\]

OpenStudy (el_arrow):

okay thats a geometric series right?

OpenStudy (el_arrow):

and its less than one so the whole series converges right?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Yes, since \(r = \dfrac{3}{4}\lt 1\), it converges. compare that with your series

OpenStudy (el_arrow):

okay i'll draw it out |dw:1449033990462:dw|
