OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

Who can help me with chemistry? I have final next week and I need help understanding Acid/Base reactions :(

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

I might be able to help depending on your questions.

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

hi ^_^

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

for example: Write the net reaction for: \[HNO_{3 (aq)}+KOH_{(aq)}\rightarrow H_{2}O+KNO_{3(aq)}\]

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

I don't even know where to start.

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

alright so the basics of acid/base chemistry is a transfer of a proton (H+)

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

in your equation the acid is the reactant that gives up a proton and the basic accepts it.

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

I'm going to do a little bit of arrow pushing to explain your rxn please don't get intimidated because I doubt you'll need to do this on a acid/base test.

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

|dw:1449351454715:dw| here is a representation of the rxn (please let me know if you have an issue understanding what I present)

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

oh ok yes so far I'm understanding :)
