How does the textbook find the formula for velocity, just curious

the same way i have it on my sheet. Just assume x'=y*(x-ut) and t'=y*(t-ux/c^2) is a given.

From that you can find dx' and dt' like i did on my sheet (which is the same way the textbook did it) i can post the textbook pictures if you would like, but its honestly the same lol

i know everything is correct up till v'=(vx-u)/(1-uv/c^2), as these were all given in the text... its just after v'=(vx-u)/(1-uv/c^2) im not entirely sure if im doing it correctly.

So i figured it out lol...turns out i forgot to take the derivative of the constants (which is 0) i feel so dumb -.-
