MEDAL, FAN, AND TESTIMONIAL When magnesium metal and an aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid combine, they produce an aqueous solution of magnesium chloride and hydrogen gas. Using the equation, Mg (s) + 2HCl (aq) arrow MgCl2 (aq) + H2 (g), if 24.3 g of Mg and 75.0 g of HCl are allowed to react, calculate the mass of MgCl2 that is produced. 75.0 g 95.1 g 99.3 g 104 g

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

You need to first find the moles of Magnesium and the moles of HCl from the given masses. Then use the molar amounts to determine which reactant produces the least amount of a MgCl2. Whichever the is the lowest amount of the two is the amount of MgCl2 produced in the reaction.
