How many moles of Cu2+ are present in 200mL of a 0.250M solutions of CuSO4?? I know the answer is 0.05 but how do I solve it?

OpenStudy (jebonna):

First write the equation and break it up into its ions: \[CuSO _{4} \rightarrow Cu ^{2+} + SO _{4}^{2-}\] Now work out the moles of CuSO4: \[n(moles) = C (concentration) \times V (volume)\] Plug in the values of the concentration and the volume in the question and you will end up with your answer when using mL instead of L So, 1mL = 0.001L Divide your answer by 1000 to get the amount of moles when using the units in L As they react on a 1:1 ratio, the moles of CuSO4 will be the same as the no. of moles of Cu2+ and that will be your answer. I hope this helps!
