Just split 13x into two terms such that sum is 13 and product is 42 and then take common
One moment, I need to set up the equation :)
\[x^{2}+13 x+42\] We need to go through the factors of 42 (numbers by which 42 can be divided) until we find the two lowest ones that add to 13. The factors of 42:\[1,2,3,4,6,7\]And we'll just stop here, because \[7+6=13\] So, \[x^{2}+13 x+42 = (x+7) (x+6)\]
