The first thing you have to do is convert 42.0 grams of sodium oxide (Na2O) to moles. Do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, its 0.677 moles, correct?

OpenStudy (vheah):

Correct. We can now use the 0.677molesNa2O to multiple to a ratio we will make that will be taken from the balanced equation. We are looking for Na that is found to have 4 moles, and since we want to cancel out the moles of Na2O, the ratio has to have the 2 moles of Na2O on the bottom. \[0.677molNa2O(4 molNa \div 2molNa2O) \]

to multiply *

Is that making sense so far? I'm worried that I might be confusing you. x) If you want to clarify things, please ask away. :)
