Hey there. What is used here is the law of valence crossing. Lithium has valence of 1 being in group one and Chlorine has valence 1 being in group 7. Therefore, after binding, Lithium takes the valence of Chlorine and the latter takes that of Lithium. The final product is then LiCl. D.
