which region of the periodic table would an element with the electron configuration be located 1s^2 2s^2 2p^6 3s^6 4s^1

the configuration has a typo mistake but I can guess it will be in the first column or group of the earth metals. More specifically looks like is the configuration of the potassium "K"

If you count the number of electrons its 17 which would make it chlorine. But as Cuanchi sayd theres a typo somewhere

3s^6 4s^1 3s^2 3p^6 4s^1 the s can not have 6 electrons the max is 2
