Quick question about reactions and collisions?

OpenStudy (alexh107):

I keep getting this wrong, what do I need to change?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

the activation energy is the energy required for a collision to break the chemical bonds it does not depend of the frequency of collisions

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

(it does depend of the energy of the collisions )

OpenStudy (alexh107):

So lowering the activation energy will have no affect on the number of collisions?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

correct

OpenStudy (alexh107):

Okay, I submitted it and it was right. Thank you!

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

however, lowering the activation energy will mean that more collisions will be successful in breaking bonds, and more product will be made

OpenStudy (alexh107):

That makes sense, thanks!
