Find the amplitude and angular frequency for following wave equation.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

\(\boxed{\sf y=4sin^230\pi t}\)

Ummm..I think I got it|dw:1451921522628:dw|

OpenStudy (abhisar):

So, \(\bf y=2-2Cos60\pi t\) Amplitude =2 Angular frequency=\(\sf 60 \pi\)

This is a standard function which is associated with energy and/or power when you have a sinusoidal variation. So it might be the potential or kinetic energy in shm or the power associated in ac circuits. The simple sin^2 function has an average value of \[\frac 1 2\] over a period and this is called the mean square value of the function. More commonly one meets the square root of such a function and then it is called the root mean square (rms) value. If you were asked for the frequency in hertz then as \[\omega = 2 \pi f\] you would find the frequency to be 30 hertz.
