OpenStudy (greatlife44):

What is the oxidation state of phosphorus In a phospholipid? +3 +4 +5 +6

OpenStudy (frostbite):

I have attached the structure of phosphatidyl-ethanol choline (a phospholipid). Then you tell me what oxidation state the phosphorus is.

OpenStudy (greatlife44):

@Frostbite I think it's +6, you have 4 oxygen atoms x -2 = -8 and two hydrogens +1 so I think phosphorus would be +6?

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Sorry I just realized there is a mistake in the structure, there is only 1 double bond to an oxygen. I therefore count it to 5. Sorry for the stupid mistake.
