What is the slope of the line shown in the graph?
What graph?
@Imverytired
Answer Options: −2 −1 −1 over 2 1 over 2
Slope=rise/run
Pick two pints and see how much the graph rises and how much the graph runs.
i think its the last one
As you can see, it doesn't rise; it falls instead. So the rise will be negative.
so c ?
Yes.
Yay! Thank you! can u help with a couple more ?
Yes. :)
Which statement best explains if the graph correctly represents the proportional relationship y = 3.5x?
Statements?
Answer options: No, the points shown on the line would not be part of y = 3.5x No, proportions cannot be represented on a graph Yes, the points shown on the line would be part of y = 3.5x Yes, all proportions can be shown on the graph of this line
Can you kinda walk me thru this? I don't really get this at all...
I'll try. :)
Thanks
You know the orange dots on the graph? Tell me the points in (x,y) format.
3.5, 7
Those are the y-values.
y = 3.5, 7 x = 1, 2
The x value of 1 is paired with the y value of 3.5.
OHHHH so 1, 3.5 2, 7
Yes.
ok now what
Now fit those values into the equation.
y=3.5x When x is 1, what is y?
3.5
Correct. Now don't you notice how on the graph when x is 1, y is 3.5?
yes so it would be c ?
If you made x equal to 2 it would make y equal to 7. (2,7) is also a point on the graph. So that means that the graph is indeed the graph of y=3.5x.
Yes. C is correct. :)
Omg thank you so much! You are a really big help i actually understand it now
You're welcome. :)
Can you help me with one last q ?
Sure. :)
tysm oh my gosh
Compare the table and equation.
Equation: y = 3x Which representation has the greatest slope?
Answer Options: The equation has the greatest slope. The table has the greatest slope. The table and equation have the same slope. Their slopes cannot be determined.
The table is modeled after the equation so they have the same slope.
The table IS the equation in a different format.
can u explain it a little bc i still don't really get it
Look at the table. Every time the x value goes up by 1, the y value goes up by 3. So the rise, which is 3, is divided by the run, which is 1. (Rise/run is the slope formula.) So 3/1 is 3. The slope is 3. Look at the equation. Plug in a number for x. When x is 1, y is 3. When x is 2, y is 6. So the slope is the same. Every time x is increased by 1, y is increased by 3. The slope is 3.
WoW!! Okay. I actually get it now!!!! And i submitted the assignment @confluxepic
Thanks @confluxepic for helping me with this assignment! I am now closing this question so guys i dont need help anymore! thanks!!!
You're welcome. :)
