There is a group of unresponsive elements that require a great deal of effort to get them to react. Can you name these elements and explain why they are not reactive?

So unreactive elements will have full sets of electronic orbitals .. (at this point you probably only deal with "shells"). Atoms are stable (i.e. unreactive) when they have 8 electrons in their outer shell - \(\sf the ~octet ~rule\). Elements that don't need to gain or lose electrons to achieve this electronic configuration are in group 8 (or 18), they are called noble gases.
