I'm doing a lab in which elements in a sample are separated. I am given the mass per atom and accumulated mass of the elements. How do I calculate the amount of the element (10^6 mol) and unrounded ratio?

i'm not sure i'm familiar with experiment, can you describe the procedure? At first glance, "\(mol^{-6}\)" means \(micro\)moles \(\sf (\mu mol)\). I think they want you to find the moles: \(\sf moles=\dfrac{mass ~(in~g)}{Molar~mass~(in~g/mol)}\) then convert to micromoles by dividing by 1,000,000. The ratio would be the ratio of moles of both types of atoms

The mass is already in micrograms. So it's 100 micrograms oxygen.

I never said micrograms, but okay. the table is asking for micromoles, so divide by the molar mass, the units work themselves out and you end up with the right units.

OpenStudy (a1234):

But the lab later asks to convert to grams from micrograms before converting to moles. So the gram values would be 9.626 X 10-5 gms, 0.0001463, and 0.0001686 grams. Is this right?

idk where you're getting these values from. the table asks for something different so please clarify.
