2. A chemist wants to make 4 liters of a 7% acid solution by mixing a 10% acid solution and a 4% acid solution. How many liters of each solution should the chemist use?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

how much acid will be present in 4 liters of 7% solution?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

you can solve this by writing a system of two equations. one equation shows at you are mixing some number of liters of 10% solution and some number of liters of 4% solution, and the total volume is 4 liters. the other equation adds the actual amount of acid from the volume of 10% solution and the amount of acid from the 4% solution, and the result is the amount of acid in 4 liters of 7% solution. solve the system of equations and you will have your answer.
