OpenStudy (lisa123):

What is the amount of F (in moles) in a 75.0 mL sample of halothane (C2HBrClF3)? The density of halothane is 1.871 g/mL

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

so they give you the volume value of halothane and they give you the density of halothane. Given these two values we can find the amount of halothane we have in grams |dw:1453927114425:dw|

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

Now you want to find the molar mass of Halothane using a periodic table. From there you want to determine what percentage of the molar mass of Halothane is Fluorine. (mass of Fluorine in Halothane)/(mass of halothane) = a decimal value. Take the mass in grams of halothane that we found in the previous step and multiply that times the decimal value you just found(which is the ratio of mass of fluoride to mass of halothane) to find the mass of fluorine in 75ml of halothane.
