What is the perimeter of the first garden? of the second? The two perimeters add up to what sum? What is the area of the first garden, expressed symbolically? of the second? What is the sum of these two areas? If you've come this far, you'll have 2 equations in two unknowns, x and y, and should be able to solve this system of equations for x and y.
