Think about what times what is 4x^2 or you could do a times c whichever method you want to do
OpenStudy (kayders1997):
@lvictoria529
OpenStudy (kayders1997):
What would you rather do?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
to be honest, i do not know, all i know is that 2x goes into 4x^2 and 4x but then you have to find two numbers that sum to four and are factors of -3
OpenStudy (kayders1997):
what is two numbers that multiples to -3

You can do it
OpenStudy (anonymous):
1 and 3
OpenStudy (kayders1997):
-3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
well one being negative and other positive
OpenStudy (kayders1997):
Right and think about it this way we want a positive 4x so do you think the 1 or 3 should be positive?

If you have a -3 do you think the 1 could get us to a positive 4x?
OpenStudy (kayders1997):
Or do you wanna start with the 4x^2 again?
OpenStudy (kayders1997):
What's two numbers that multiple to 4 and than x^2 is what times what?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
2
OpenStudy (kayders1997):
Yes 2x2 what or?

4x1
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh yeah sorry, the x^2 thing just confused me
OpenStudy (kayders1997):
That's okay so when you have x^2 When you multiply exponents they are being added so x^2 times x^5 is x^7 just an example so basically x^---- times x^--- power equals x^2 remember they are being added together to get x^2
OpenStudy (kayders1997):
X^1 times x^1=x^2

so that is how 2x times 2x is 4x^2, oh ok, i get it thx
OpenStudy (kayders1997):
Yes
OpenStudy (kayders1997):
So now experiment do you want to do the 2x's first?
OpenStudy (kayders1997):
Or the 4x and 1x?
