1117, 1465, 513, 437, 1038, 954, 650, 893, 456, 1018
@Directrix
find the range, median, first and third quartiles, and interquartile
@Directrix
First thing, write the data points in increasing order.
437, 456, 513, 650, 893, 954, 1018, 1038, 1117
I think that one of the data points is missing. There are ten posted in the problem and only nine in the ascending order list.
1465 at the end i forget
437, 456, 513, 650, 893, 954, 1018, 1038, 1117, 1465
I am well aware of that online calculator. I don't know why this person is in the thread interrupting our work. We could have been finished by now.
@Directrix yes, i already know that website but because i don't understand it so i need help
i dont want to just copy the answer from website
i want to understand it
437, 456, 513, 650, 893, 954, 1018, 1038, 1117, 1465 @JessicaH123 Do you see that there are 10 data points in the set? Ten is an even number and splitting the data set in half to get the median means that two numbers will be in the midde, the 893 and the 954.
To find the median, your numbers have to be listed in numerical order. The "mode" is the value that occurs most often. If no number is repeated, then there is no mode for the list. The "range" is just the difference between the largest and smallest values.
so the median is 923.5? @Directrix
437, 456, 513, 650, 893, 954, 1018, 1038, 1117, 1465 Take half the sum of 893 and 954 to get the median. >>so the median is 923.5? Yes.
Finally, I can post.
ok what next?
@Directrix please help me
@Directrix where are you? please help me
@Directrix please help me!!!!!!!!!!!! T_T
What do you need?
I am trying to but if I post, then the screen freezes. After I refresh the page, then it takes 4 to 5 minutes before I can post. I will put as much as I can in this block. First quartile: 923.5 437, 456, 513, 650, 893, 954, 1018, 1038, 1117, 1465 From the median Q2 to the left, there are 5 data entries. 437, 456, 513, 650, 893, What is the median of those 5 elements? That will be Q1, the lower quartile.
513
Correct. For the upper quartile, the same procedure: 954, 1018, 1038, 1117, 1465 What is the median of this group?
1038
Correct.
For the IQR, Q3 - Q1 = ?
525 @Directrix
Correct.
@JessicaH123 The one tricky thing in doing these types of problems is the number of elements in the data set and how that changes the median finding procedure.
thank you very much you save my life @Directrix
You are welcome. @JessicaH123 Sorry about the freeze-up delays.
it okay ^_^
bye
