@Directrix

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solve the following equation for b.\[\frac{b}{\sin (32 {}^{\circ})}=\frac{5.7}{\sin (180 {}^{\circ}-(69 {}^{\circ}+32 {}^{\circ}))} \]b = 3.07707

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

Is it 3.08?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

do you understand the steps needed to get to @robtobey's equation? First: find the value of angle C using the fact that 3 angles in a triangle sum to 180 deg Second: Use the sin rule to find side b: 5.7/sin C = b/sin 32

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

ok what next?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

First: find the value of angle C using the fact that 3 angles in a triangle sum to 180 deg

OpenStudy (mrnood):

So - I've helped you with 'what's next' - are you going to work out the value of angle C?

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

I wanna say its C=79?

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

69+32+79=180.

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

@MrNood

OpenStudy (mrnood):

yes 79 is correct so Second: Use the sin rule to find side b: 5.7/sin 79 = b/sin 32 sin 79 and sin 32 are just numbers - so you can work out b form there...

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

Whats the sin rule mean again?

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

@MrNood

OpenStudy (mrnood):

5.7/sin 79 = b/sin 32

OpenStudy (mrnood):

|dw:1456758196491:dw| sin rule is a/sin A = b/ sin B = c/ sin C or in this question 5.7/sin 79 = b/sin 32 (= c/sin 69) so in this equation you know all except b 5.7/sin 79 = b/sin 32 so you can work out b
