OpenStudy (liaannne):

A neutralization reaction only produces a salt when a strong acid reacts with a strong base. True or False?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Below is the example of a neutralization reaction involving strong base and strong acid NaOH + \(\sf H_2SO_4\) = \(\sf Na_2SO_4 + H_2O\) What do you think should be the answer?

OpenStudy (liaannne):

I though the answer was true

OpenStudy (liaannne):

@Abhisar

OpenStudy (abhisar):

It produces water in addition. Also salt is produced regardless of strength of acid and base. When stroong acid and weak base react then also a salt is produced which is acidic in nature. If strong base reacts with weak acid then basic salts are produced.

OpenStudy (liaannne):

Oh wow! Thanks so much! So in that case I was wrog and the answer is false. Whoops.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Yes, I think so.

OpenStudy (liaannne):

Thanks!! Uhm do you suppose you could help with like two more?? You explain it so well!
