234/92 U ---> 4/2 HE + _____?
May I know what the "he" and "u" is for?
Complete the following radioactive decay problem. its chemistry im not sure thats all it tells me
U=Uranium, He= Helium the missing nuclide has to be of type: \[\huge _{90}^{230}X\] since the mass number has to be conserved , and the ctric charge has to be conserved
*electric charge
im confused
in nuclear reactions the total mass number at the left side has to be equal to the total mass number at the right side, the same goes for electric charge. Please look at my tutorial: http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/569003b1e4b09cb8736d02b5 now, at the left side the mass number is 234, so at right side we have: \(230+4\) the electric charge at the left side is 92, so at the right side we have: \(90+2\), now, please use the periodic table and identify the nuclide \(X\)
THANK YOU!!!!!!!
WAIT what if you get a negative number! whats the element of -1 @Michele_Laino
there are no elements with negative mass number the element with electric charge equal to -1 is the electron
oh ok
