I have 5 mol of a weak acid (HQ). when this is dissolved in water, 0.50 mol of H is formed. what is the concentration of H3O? I have an answer, but I'm not sure it's right.
concentration is in moles/liter
so, would it be just .5 M H30?
well, what i'm asking is what is the amount of water that your acid was dissolved in?
BTW H+ and acidic water H3O+ are the same.
Sorry! I forgot to mention that it is dissolved in 1 L of H20. I also know that H+ and H30+ mean the same.
I should be 0.5 moles/liter
it**
@kels4153 \[Concentration = \frac{ moles }{ volume }\] We have to find the concentration but we know both moles of H^+ and the volume of it right? moles = 0.5 moles volume = 1l= 1dm^3 therefore \[H ^{+} concentration = \frac{ 0.5mol }{ 1L }= 0.5molL ^{-1}\]
Got it. Thanks!
