OpenStudy (liaannne):

Balance the following oxidation-reduction reaction and indicate which atoms have undergone oxidation and reduction.____HNO3 + ____S ____NO + ____H2SO4

OpenStudy (liaannne):

@jhonyy9

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

how you begine the ballance ? on the left side there is one H on the right side there are 2 H

OpenStudy (liaannne):

Thats what confuses me. The whole process

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

N is equale O there are 3 on left and 5 on right S is equale do you understand it ?

OpenStudy (liaannne):

Not all the way....

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

what is the common multiplie for 3 and 5 in case of oxigen ?

OpenStudy (liaannne):

Man I dont even know

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

but i think than we begin with hydrogen will be more usefully check please there than you multiplie the left side by 2 so will be 2HNO3 because on the right side there are 2 hydrogen yes ? so than will be on the left side 2*3 = 6 oxigen - yes ?

OpenStudy (liaannne):

Yes!

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

on the lrft side multiplie the NO by 2 so will get 2NO this mean that will result on the right side 2O + 4O = 6 oxygen so the sides by oxygen will be in equilibru yes ?

OpenStudy (liaannne):

Yes :)

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

and how you think we have got the equilibru completly for every two side ?

OpenStudy (liaannne):

Yeah

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

sure ?

OpenStudy (liaannne):

I think so hah

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

ok. so was hard ?

OpenStudy (liaannne):

Yeh pretty much lol thanks for the help though!

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

was my pleasure good luck bye bye
