OpenStudy (rushda99):

For complex numbers z satisfying |z − (1 + i)u| = 1, find the greatest possible value of |z|. u = -3i Please help me with the locus...

OpenStudy (phi):

you can think of |z - u| = d where both u and d are fixed to mean the distance from z to u is exactly "d". The locus is a circle of points with u as the center.

OpenStudy (rushda99):

What are the coordinates of u?

OpenStudy (rushda99):

@phi

OpenStudy (phi):

the convention is the real part is the x value, and the imaginary part is the y value u= 0 + -3i, so (0,-3) are the coordinates if you plot u on the real-imaginary plane
