Can you rationalize a small difference in observations using intermolecular forces on the miscibility with water and hexanes?

Well, I am not sure what you're doing exactly, are you trying to dissolve them into each other or dissolve something like an alcohol into each? But whatever it is you're doing, it is probably something to do with the fact that water is polar and hexane is nonpolar.
