Best to look up "polynomial" to be certain that you know the definition. One of the characteristics of a polynomial is that it has several powers of x represented: x^4, x^2, x, 1 (x is always the base; the exponents are integers equal to 0 or greater than 0. x+1 is a poly; its highest power of x is the first power, x^1. x+1 has 2 terms. apply this info to answering your own problem.

tERMS of a polynomical CAN certainly be negative, but not the exponents of the variable, x. Yes, it's a trinomial. Very good.
