OpenStudy (karlaltr):

Write a balanced chemical equation for each double displacement reaction. Write "NR" if you predicted that no reaction will occur. Note that K+, Na+, and Li+ ions form soluble compounds with all anions. All nitrate compounds are soluble. Sulfate compounds with Ca2+, Sr 2+, Ba 2+, Ra 2+ and Pb 2+ are insoluble, but most other sulfate compounds are soluble. Lead (II) iodid is insoluble. FeCl3(aq) + Na2SO4 (aq) ---> NaNO3 (aq) + MgSO4 ---->

OpenStudy (welshfella):

i cant see any insoluble compounds being form in the above 2 examples.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

* formed

OpenStudy (karlaltr):

Exactly, its very confusing, for when there are insoluble compounds does this mean that there will be a precipitate formed? How does insolubility effect outcomes?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

A precipitate will be formed if one of the products is insoluble. Here there are no insolubles so we wont see anything happen.
