OpenStudy (blm1):

Which of the following phase changes would release energy as it occurs? Melting Boiling Evaporating Freezing

OpenStudy (blm1):

I think boiling or evaporation

OpenStudy (blm1):

Or freezing :D

OpenStudy (qwertty123):

Condensing Gas→liquid Exothermic, heat released = energy released

OpenStudy (qwertty123):

So I think it is Boiling..

OpenStudy (blm1):

Yah exothermic (exit) energy released. Endothermic (enters) energy enters.

OpenStudy (blm1):

melting and boiling are endothermic my lesson says sooo

OpenStudy (blm1):

condensation and freezing are exothermic so I will say freezing

OpenStudy (rushwr):

I don't think the answer is Boiling ! Boiling is turning from liquid to gas like right? compared to liquids gases have a higher kinetic energy right ? So in order to obtain the required kinetic energy it need energy so it absorbs more like endothermic !

OpenStudy (blm1):

Yah it has to be freezing because I reviewed my lesson and it says exothermic condensation and freezing. Since it is giving off energy (exiting) it has to be freezing.

OpenStudy (blm1):

Thank ya'll so much!!! I have one more that will be in this same category.

OpenStudy (qwertty123):

LOL! XD Yup it is Freezing! :D Boiling REQUIRES energy, whereas freezing RELEASES energy. So the right answer is freezing.

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Yeah freezing is from liquid to solid. Liquids have lesser kinetic energy than the solids so the kinetic energy is reduced thus it releases heat
