OpenStudy (pumpkin1102):

Where does the energy given off by an exothermic reaction come from? The chemicals make the energy during the reaction from atoms that are consumed. The atoms in the air are converted to energy during the explosion. The energy is converted from the heat taken in by the exothermic reaction. More energy is given off by the new bonds formed than is needed to break the original bonds.

OpenStudy (odotellessa):

yea sometimes it requires energy to release some energy :D so.. what? The energy released is already within the bonds themselves?

OpenStudy (pumpkin1102):

I'm confused @Odotellessa

OpenStudy (odotellessa):

It's like a trigger, how do you make wood burn, with some energy to get it going, same with TNT.. Hydrogen bombs etc..

OpenStudy (pumpkin1102):

so D?

OpenStudy (pumpkin1102):

@Odotellessa

OpenStudy (odotellessa):

D, yes. But I am not 100%, I would definitely go with D for the reasons above..

OpenStudy (pumpkin1102):

ok thx
