OpenStudy (ttop0816):

Please help! How would increasing the concentration of HCl shift the equilibrium of the following reaction? Zn(s) + 2HCl(aq) <----> ZnCl2(aq) + H2(g) Answer: It would cause the forward reaction to happen more rapidly. It would cause the reverse reaction to happen more rapidly.

OpenStudy (photon336):

Depends on what the keq is but I think it would shift the equilbrium to the right.

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

More than likely, explained by Le Chats principle, to relieve the stress induced by the increase of concentration of HCl in the reactants the reaction will drive towards products.
