If an atomic nucleus spontaneously emits two protons and two neutrons, then ________has taken place. Question 28 options: alpha decay beta decay Suppose you have 50 grams of a radioactive isotope with a half-life of 2 years. How much of the isotope will you have after 4 years? Question 29 options: 12.5 6.25 grams

@gottennis121
@gottennis121 this is chemistry lol :D
Okay for question 29, it is pretty easy @kaley246. If you have 50 grams with a half-life of 2 years, how many will you have in 2 years?
no this is physical science
i think alpha particle is correct for 1st one
100 @asett
2nd one i dont know
Not quite! You're going the wrong way :D. Remember, half-life, all you do is divide the grams (in this case 50) in half every half-life time sequence (in this case, coincidentally, 2 years). Does that make sense? So in 4 years, you just have to divide the 50 grams in half twice.
12.5@asett
12.5 @asett
@mathmath333 are you sure for the first one is a
Exactly!! For the question 28, the atomic nucleus has released a helium-4 atom, thus making it an alpha particle.
So, yes @kaley246, we have here alpha decay!
@asett what number 29 is it 12.5
Yes it is 12.5

Question 28: Alpha decay is a radioactive process in which a particle with two neutrons and two protons is ejected from the nucleus of a radioactive atom. Question 29: "a half-life of 2 years" means that after 2 years, the original amount will decay to half the original amount So if it is 50 then you divide by 2 and since the you have to calculate to 4 years divide by 2 again 50/2 = 25 25/2 = 12.5 12.5 is you final answer
ok yea what about queston 30
Question 30: It would be low-level because transuranic waste contains radioactive elements, such as neptunium, plutonium, americium and many other elements and substances that have atomic numbers higher than uranium in the periodic table of elements. After seeing this transuranic would be false because of all the chemicals and hazardous pollution it would bring to the air...
High-level nuclear waste must be carefully contained because it can cause Question 31 options: blindness cancer
nuclear waste = radiation radiation causes cancer
so it was cancer
@F_Jayyy
yes
Clothing that comes into contact with radiation is considered high-level nuclear waste. Question 32 options: TRUE FALSE
@KendrickLamar2014
@F_Jayyy
False...because if you think about it x-rays are considered radiation and we have all had xrays done from time to time like the dentists or the doctors and sometimes it may hit our clothes but that does not make it a high-level nuclear waste.
Transuranic waste requires deep geological burial. Question 33 options: TRUE FALSE
@F_Jayyy
True...but the land that it is buried in would not be usable anymore for alot of things because it is considered contaminated
yo its break time i can help you in about 20 mins if that fine??
yes it is

yes
sorry, this is out of my knowledge, I only learned about nuclear stuff from gen chem and phys class
this is phyiscal science
I never knew phy sci is this hard, I thought its fro people who dont do sci but need sci class for school reqs
this is like chemistry
@daniel.ohearn1 can you help me please
ok im back
ok number 32
@aaronq
Clothing that comes into contact with radiation is considered high-level nuclear waste. Question 32 options: TRUE FALSE
False...my clothes have been in contact with radiation whether it be the dentist or the x-ray at the hospital and i was not told to strip lol so i doubt it would be considered high level nuclear waste
Nuclear power has the advantage over coal in that nuclear power does not produce as much carbon dioxide as coal. Question 34 options: TRUE FALSE
nuclear power produces steam so yes it would have the advantage
@uri
false
so its false @F_Jayyy
First this should help you for your first question: http://www.kentchemistry.com/links/Nuclear/AlphaBetaGamma.htm Second https://rechneronline.de/chemie-rechner/half-life.php
is it false for the second answer
@F_Jayyy
@daniel.ohearn1 it is false
@uri
@Quinnlover @Qwertty123
Your options are 12.5 or 6.25 grams, plug in the 3 bits of info you have and you should have your answer.
i already did that one
