could someone PLEASE help with my math
You will probably get more help in the mathematics section. :D
I tryed for 1/2 an hour
ok what do you need help with then?
Your answer is correct
Yup your right :D
but it does not pass thought -1
When 2 negatives are together you get a positive
y-y1=m(x-x1) y-(-1) see the 2 negatives together make a positive
i know but it you point doesn't pass though -2 -1
\[\huge~\rm~\bf~y-y_1=m(x-x_1)\] let's start off by listing what we know x1=? y1=? m=?
so -1 -2 5
(x1,y1) what number is in the x1 place? x1=?
-2
good so x1=-2 y1=-1 m=5 Now use the point slope formula and just plug in those numbers \[\huge~\rm~\bf~y-y_1=m(x-x_1)\]
I don't get it so would you do 1 - -1
No the y remains the same x1=-2 y1=-1 m=5 Now use the point slope formula and just plug in those numbers \[\huge~\rm~\bf~y-(-1)=5(x-(-2))\] When you have two minus signs together they become a positive \[\huge~\rm~\bf~y\color{red}{+1}=5(x-(-2))\] same with the 2 \[\huge~\rm~\bf~y\color{red}{+1}=5(x\color{red}{+}2)\]
ok I see what you did but it still doesn't cross at -2 -1 it say the line that passes through the point (−2, −1) and has a slope of 5 which I do not see in any of them
thank for clearing that up I forgot how you did that
@pooja195 @T-Dawg02
@Atsie
PLEASE help @Atsie @jameshorton @Qwertty123
With?
I already know x1=-2 y1=-1 m=5 y−(−1)=5(x−(−2)) y+1=5(x−(−2)) y+1=5(x+2) but it still doesn't cross at -2 -1 it say the line that passes through the point (−2, −1) and has a slope of 5 which I do not see in any of them
@Qwertty123
PLEASE help @Qwertty123 I have to go in 10m
Put the equations.. in here.. https://www.desmos.com/calculator then hoover over the line. It will give you the points.
Try desmos.. I got the answer..So I know you can do it.
i got -2 0
@Qwertty123
@helpkay you are overthinking the problem. It only wants you to but the coordinate and slope in point slope form
then why does it say the line that passes through the point (−2, −1) and has a slope of 5 when it doesn't
It wants the equation for it
hey try posting your math q in math not os feedback u would get help faster there r some grate math helper there plz close this and have a good day/night :D
@likeabossssssss I did that 3 times
You have the correct answer and it's great to show that you are interested in understanding the question rather than looking for straight answers. :)
try taggin ppl
no one online i tagged everyone I know
@likeabossssssss the user is already getting help.
@mathmale is on he/she is a really good helper
@helpkay Do you understand what I have been teaching you? Do you understand the concept? The question basically is saying to put the given info into point slope form.
ok but i already got what I needed like @pooja195 I was over looking the question BTW thanks @pooja195 I get what you are saying they need to reword it so other people don't think the same thing I am a thinker I over look stuff all the time sometimes my mom gets mad at me for it lol
You're welcome ^_^ It's great to see someone interested in learning ^_^ :D
