OpenStudy (elifbestegul):

A ray of yellow light goes from air into water with a refractive index of 1.33 at an angle of incidence of 34.0 degrees. Determine the angle of refraction of the ray.

OpenStudy (nikks1992):

Snell's Law relates the index of refraction of a medium to the angle of light from the normal at the interface. Notice that it does not matter which ray is incident or refracted. n1sinø1 = n2sinø2 here n1 =1.003 for air take approx 1 sin ø1 = angle of incidence n2 = RI of the second medium sin ø2 = angle of refraction. 1*sin 34 = 1.33*sin ø solving it comes out to be approximately 28 degrees.
