OpenStudy (mrm):

Each curve between each point represents a step in the Carnot cycle. Each step in the Carnot cycle is a simple thermodynamic process. For example, from point A to point B, the gas undergoes isothermal expansion, meaning its volume increases while its temperature remains constant. You can see that head is added during this process to maintain a constant temperature - this is equivalent to PV work. Knowing the state of the gas at point A, and the process it goes through to point B, you should be able to calculate its properties at this point.
