what is the circumference of the circle?
OpenStudy (liv1234):
3
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
nope

9.42?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):
circumference = pi * diameter = ?
OpenStudy (liv1234):
9.42
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
nope
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
what is the diameter?
OpenStudy (liv1234):
Isn't the diameter the radius?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):
diameter = 2 * radius = ?
OpenStudy (liv1234):
6?
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
good!
now, circumference = 2 * radius = ?
OpenStudy (liv1234):
6!

sorry typo
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
circumference = pi * diameter = ?
OpenStudy (liv1234):
3.14*6? @Vocaloid
OpenStudy (liv1234):
@Vocaloid Is that correct?
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
yes, and that equals...?

OpenStudy (liv1234):
18.84 @Vocaloid
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
good
now we calculate the arc length/the total angle measure inside the circle
OpenStudy (liv1234):
How would we do that?
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
(5pi/3) divided by 2pi = ?
OpenStudy (liv1234):
5.2/6.28 right?

yes
OpenStudy (liv1234):
That doesn't give me the right answer though.
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
we're not done yet
OpenStudy (liv1234):
Ohh alright, well I got 0.828
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
good, now we multiply that by the circumference

let me know what you get
OpenStudy (liv1234):
@Vocaloid I got 4.968 which rounded gets me 5
OpenStudy (liv1234):
Is that the answer? Option D? 5.0? @Vocaloid
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
yes good
OpenStudy (liv1234):
Thanks!!(:

OpenStudy (liv1234):
Okay.
OpenStudy (liv1234):
Was it wrong?
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
what's the circumference?
OpenStudy (liv1234):
6 right?

circumference = pi * diameter = ?
OpenStudy (liv1234):
Ohh, then I made a mistake calculating.
OpenStudy (liv1234):
3.14*2?
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
what's the diameter?

Wasn't the diameter 2?
OpenStudy (mathstudent55):
5pi/3 is almost a full circle, so the arc length must be the greater part of the circumference.
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
no
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
review our earlier work
OpenStudy (liv1234):
I just did that and I'm confused.

Vocaloid (vocaloid):
we found the diameter before. scroll back up and see what it is
OpenStudy (liv1234):
The diameter is 3*2
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
which is 6
OpenStudy (liv1234):
right, so isn't that the circumference?
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
then what is the circumference, if circumference = pi * diameter?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):
diameter and circumference are not the same thing
OpenStudy (liv1234):
18.84 is the circumference
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
good
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
now multiply 0.828 * 18.84
OpenStudy (liv1234):
15.599, but rounded that's 15.6

@Liv1234 Perhaps a reason you're confused is that you opened a post with this question earlier, and you were being helped. Then you stopped responding and closed the post. Then you opened a new post with the same question. Once you have someone helping you, you should stick to it to the end.
Vocaloid (vocaloid):
good, so the closest answer voice is 15.7 (rounding error probably)
OpenStudy (liv1234):
I know, but you stopped in the middle of helping me so I opened a new post. And thank you! @Vocaloid
OpenStudy (mathstudent55):
You need to be patient. Sometimes OS responds very slowly. It seems like someone stopped answering when they are just waiting for OS to work. Sometimes I need to log off and log back on to get OS to respond.
