a.) If D is a right angle and lines PN, FG, and BD are parallel to each other, prove SPN SFG SBD . b.) Use the diagram to solve this practical problem: A person who is 1.5 m tall casts a shadow of 8 m. The distance along the ground from the person (N) to the flagpole (G) is 32 m, and the distance from the flagpole (G) to the building (D) is 200 m. Find the height of the flagpole (FG) and the height of the building (BD), showing all calculations.

I'm not the best with proofs, sorry! Let me see if I can figure out the practical problem.
I just need help, anything helps I've looked countless times in my notebook.
I'm wondering if you can set it up like a proportion
like pn/sn =fg/sg=bd/sd?
yeah something like that
that makes sense, but it doesn't really give me any numbers beside a 90 degree angle
I don't think you need an angle hold on let me go get my notebook lol
ok
Its asking you to prove that all those triangles are similar right
yeah
alright well look then lemme draw here the values placed in
|dw:1465332527207:dw|
ohhhh okay, it just occured to me what I'm supposed to do.
So if we were to find the building height we would use the proportion height/base=height/base So lets use the whole triangle since we are looking for building height Base length= 8+32+200=240 Height is unknown=? And lets take the triangle we already know the base and height for -> first small triangle which has base of 8 and height of 1.5 And now for the proportion \[\frac{ 1.5 }{ 8 }= \frac{ x }{ 240 }\]
Any questions?
As you were explaining this I think it clicked.
Sounds good! :)
