help please number 7 ..i dont understand the concept of this section and the hw either

OpenStudy (marcelie):

OpenStudy (marcelie):

@agent0smith

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

\[\large W = \int\limits_{a}^{b}F dx\] where F = kx and k is a constant. Use the 10 lbs and 4 inches to find k first.

OpenStudy (marcelie):

oh okay so how would i find that ?

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

lbs is a unit of force, inches is a unit of distance...

OpenStudy (marcelie):

oh okay so then

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

So find k. I'm not sure how your book approached it, so this is partly a physics approach.

OpenStudy (marcelie):

oh i read my notes but the thing is that he taught it too fast and moved on to the next section

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

F = kx and k is a constant. Use the 10 lbs and 4 inches to find k first. Plug them in.

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

lol you could just as easily have typed. I hate when people use the drawing tool unnecessarily 10 = k*4

OpenStudy (marcelie):

pfft lool

OpenStudy (marcelie):

okay so then k= 5/2

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

I wish i could take away medals from you out of spite, or at least delete your worthless drawing pic :P Now go back to my first post. The limits of integration would be from 0 (natural state) to however far it is stretched.

OpenStudy (marcelie):

haha, welp sadly that cant happen :p

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Are you working it out?

OpenStudy (marcelie):

oops sorry .. i got 15/4

OpenStudy (marcelie):

@agent0smith

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Show your work...

OpenStudy (marcelie):

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Looks about right.

OpenStudy (marcelie):

okie :D
