Hi, looking at this image of two polymers. Is the boiling point of PET higher than that of PBT? Justify your answer. I guess this has to do with the fact that one polymer is bulkier and the other has a longer C chain. Is PBT more disperse than PET? Thanks in advance
I meant the melting point, why would i want to boil them heheheh...
PET has a higher melting point, but why do you think this is so? What is one of the most looked at criteria when trying to determine melting point from the compound and its structure? ;) hint there
So it is then because the PET has stronger dipole dipole interactions whereas, the PBT has stronger london dispersion forces.
@alphadxg can you help me out.................i just asked a question................name is uncle drew.
@uncledrew In a second, wait your turn please ;)
@tatianagomezb Right, inter molecular forces are stronger in PET so we need more energy to overcome the forces.
Great. Thank you so much
No problem mate :)
