Reference points on the unit circle..?

Will reference points on the unit circle always be one of the following: pi/3, pi/4, pi/6 ? All of the problems I've done so far (find the ref. angle for _) have given me one of those. But I'm just starting to dip into the unit circle, so maybe the problems are just simple? Are there any other reference angles besides those three?

Well if you're given an angle of 25pi/11, then no, the reference won't be one of those nice angles that you're used to seeing. But I think in general, yes, with these types of problems, you're only going to be dealing with the special angles. So 0, pi/6, pi/4, pi/3, pi/2

Errr at least I think we include those end values for the first quadrant right? Thinking...

Reference for 3pi/2 would be uhhhh

Hah wouldn't 3pi/2 be 270 degrees? would it need a ref. angle?

I just did a whole page of "what is the reference angle of _" and all of the answers were either pi/4, pi/3, or pi/6... which made me wonder... but I guess they just wanted to hammer the point home!

Would it need a reference angle? I dunno. My brain actually exploded on that one :\ Maybe it doesn't need a reference. Ya your logic seems good here :))

I do have one more question though.. "is it possible for sin(theta) = 5/4 ? That's one of my practice problems and I have 0 clue how to figure it out.

Have you been introduced to the sine `curve` yet? Where you graph it on x-y plane?

Hmm I don't think so..

Ok well we can just use the unit circle, or even better a triangle to really nail the point :)

The course I'm taking (online) is actually pretty horrendous... I always have to look elsewhere for explanation :|
