2s+4=5(−4−2s)
@Ashleyisakitty
Is 's" a variable like "2x" would be?
yes
Great. This equation is pretty simplistic. First, you need to follow the PEMDAS rule, so you need to multiple 5 out into -4 and -2s. After that -- you can continue the equation by adding/subtracting a number value and a variable value from each side. Then, you can finish your equation to find what "s" is.
2s+4=-20-10s
Yes -- good job. Now, you can subtract -2s each side, and add 20 to both side, or you could add 10s to each side, and subtract 4 from each side. Whichever you pick.
\[2s+4=5(-4-2s)\] First try to make the equation a simpler one. \[2s+4=-20-10s\] Now rewrite the equation by bringing s to one side and the numbers to the other side. \[-12s=24\] You get the answer here \[s=\frac{ -24 }{ 12}\]
then 2s+4=-20-10s would become -12s=24
so the answer is s=-2
Yes Rayep, nice job. The last step is to divide each!
Great work.
