If AC=12 and BC=9, what is the radius?http://www.intervisualtechnology.us/data/1/9050/apply_12_1.png

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

1. AC = 12 AB =x BC = 9 81+x^2 = 12^2 81+x^2 = 144 +9x +18 -18 -18 63+x^2=144+9x -63 -63 x^2 = 81+9x

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

I don't get how to do the rest.@jhonyy9

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so look it please there you not need using x because is given AC = 12 and BC = 9 just use pythagora"s and get the length of radius right ?

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

yes

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so this is more easy than before - yes ?

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

yeah

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so radius = ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

r = sqrt(12^2 -9^2) r = ?

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

144-81=63

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

sqrt63=7.9

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

yes but r=sqrt63 = ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

no sqrt63 = sqrt(9*7) = sqrt9 *sqrt7 = ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

sqrt9 = sqrt(3^2) = ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

sqrt(3^2) = (3^2)^(1/2) = 3^(2*(1/2)) = ?

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

3

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

yes but there is again sqrt7 so how many will be ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

sqrt63 = sqrt9*sqrt7 = ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so you know that sqrt9 = 3 than sqrt63 = sqrt9*sqrt7 = ?*sqrt7

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

sqrt7*4.9

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):
