Given that NL is perpendicular to HI and NM is perpendicular to JK, find the radius of circle N if JK=14. Round to the hundredths place. (image below)

OpenStudy (rogue):

A. 12.56 B. 12.57 C. 13.03 D. 13.04

OpenStudy (imnotarobot5):

the answer should be D

OpenStudy (imnotarobot5):

If you're given that KJ = 14, you can assume that the line KJ is bisected by line NM

OpenStudy (imnotarobot5):

Because you are given the length of line NM as 11, and a bisected line is split in half, you have NM as 11 and MJ as 7

OpenStudy (imnotarobot5):

Then you can connect a line fron N to J to create a triangle. Because N is your center, this line is a radius line as well. From here you can just use Pythagorean theorem. 7^2 + 11 ^2 = c^2 170 = c^2 13.04 = c c = radius. Does that make sense?
