OpenStudy (snowwakka):

Based on the name, which substance is a covalent compound? a)copper(II) chloride b)chromium(III) sulfate c)dinitrogen pentoxide d)ammonium carbonate

OpenStudy (osprey):

I don't know the answer to this one, but it says "based on the name". Well, metals - copper and chromium tend to bond ionically. You get chlorine ions and sulfate ions. If there's such a thing as a carbonate ion (C03) then I'd go for c. The name dinitrogen pentoxide N205 reminds me of another name for water as "dihydrogen oxide" H20. I think that water molecules are covalent, so I'd guess at c. Bon voyage http:perendis.webs.com

OpenStudy (snowwakka):

C says dinitrogen pentoxide not "dihydrogen"....

thanks bro.
