OpenStudy (kromb):

Question is can't seem to get working to answer correct. Get coreect answer but my working looks wrong. (What volume of 0.5mol/dm³ sulfuric acid will neutralise 15cm³ of sodium hydroxide solution, concentration 1mol/dm³? )Answer is 0.015dm³ or 15cm³

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

During neutralization reactions \[\text{milliequivalents of acid =milliequivalents of base}\]

OpenStudy (aaronq):

I think the problem you are having in working this out is that sulfuric acid has two protons to neutralize, so you need two times as many sodium hydroxide molecules. \(\sf \large \color{red}{H_2}SO_4~+2NaOH\rightarrow 2H_2O+2NaSO_4\) Approach it like you would with any stoichiometry question.
