Did I solve this problem correctly?

OpenStudy (chupacabraj):

There is a current of 0.25 A in the circuit of FIGURE P31.42. What is the power dissipated by R?

OpenStudy (chupacabraj):

My attempt: 12-12(0.25)-6(0.25)-6-R=0 R= 1.5 ohms

OpenStudy (chupacabraj):

Using Kirchoff's Rules

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Why didn't you multiply R by the current?

OpenStudy (chupacabraj):

I'm looking for R

OpenStudy (chupacabraj):

Ohhh I see what you mean, I forgot to multiply by the current in the equation

OpenStudy (chupacabraj):

I only have R, i need voltage

OpenStudy (chupacabraj):

So now I get 6 ohms.

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Well there's essentially 6V, and 6+12+6 ohms, which does give a current of 0.25A.

OpenStudy (chupacabraj):

Thanks 😘
