so the domain looks like this: \[(a<x<b)\] where a is the furthest number you could possible plot on the left side of the graph and b is the furthest number you could plot on the right side of the graph. The range is the same concept but instead of left and right, it is the highest and lowest values of y from the top of the graph and the bottom of the graph. If the furthest point is a circle or infinity then that point gets a "(" If the furthest point is a filled in dot then it gets a "[" So the domain of this function, according to the rules I described above would be: \[[1\le x<5)\]
