OpenStudy (joleenj):

Consider the elements in the periodic table. As we move to the far right, the purple column is made up of _________ that are __________. A) gases; nonreactive B) metals; nonreactive C) metalloids; reactive D) gases; highly reactive

OpenStudy (lshanab):

Although I don't know what purple column you are referring to (as I may not have the same color-coded periodic table as you), As you move farther across the row, the elements change from metals to metalloids to nonmetals to gasses (SO letters B and C are out). Additionally, the elements tend to become more reactive as you go to the right of the periodic table. Therefore, your answer should be D.

OpenStudy (diglet):

Ishanab is right, however there are two groups at the far right of the periodic table. Group 17 is the halogens which are the most reactive of the gaseous elements. However just to the right of this group 18 are the noble gases. Which practically never react with anything. Your answer is dependant on which is the purple group. If it is the one on the right end of the periodic table your answer is A. If it is the one, that is one group in from the far right end then your answer is D.
